Summary/Abstract: Poland’s accession to the European Union caused a significant rise in the share of air transport in the overall passenger traffic, as well as the number of flight connections and air carriers, which translates into the increased overall passenger traffic. Quantitative methods which play an important role in the analysis and forecasting of economic phenomena are also a useful tool in the air transport sector. This study has two aims. The first is to analyse passenger air transport in Poland and the second, to project the volume of incoming and outgoing flights from Polish airports for the years 2014-2015. The source data for this study come from the Polish Central Statistical Office for the years 1999-2013. Data were analysed with respect to their dynamics and average pace of change, and based on the trends detected, projections for 2014-2015 were made. The projected volume of passengers arriving and departing from Polish airports is very similar to the forecasts made by the International Association of Air Carriers.
