The essence of econophysics

Summary/Abstract: The paper reviews econophysics studies with the aim of familiarising larger audience of Polish economists with the field. The first part outlines econophysics and its history in Poland and worldwide. A short review of definitions of econophysics follows, complemented with an original definition proposed by the authors. The process of institutionalization of econophysics in Poland and worldwide is presented along with its separation as a research field from the mainstream neoclassical economics, with reference to the methodology of economics.
