Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with francization of Romanian animal terminology as linguistic strategy used by French travellers in Romanian Principalities in the 19th century in their journals. Indeed, when foreign travellers presented Romania to their occidental audience, they had to use some Romanian words in order to describe Romanian facts ; that’s why many of these terms were adapted to French language by francization. We will show different methods of transforming used by those travellers and we shall try to find whether some norms or recurrent rules of francization come out.
