Summary/Abstract: Finland is known for its equitable education system, however in the area of education for immigrant students it is not achieving equity. With increasing immigration nationally, this is an issue that must be addressed. Certain key policies are recommended for the success of immigrant students such as lessening educational segregation, providing for highly qualified teachers, supporting linguistic and intercultural education, and promoting parental involvement. In this article, Finland’s success or challenges in each of these areas is evaluated and suggestions made for improvements.
