Summary/Abstract: The article explores the small electronic media communities that gather around Internet memes. While taking into account the evolutionary genesis of the term “meme,” first coined by Richard Dawkins, Koza proposes an alternative, pragmatic-political approach to the phenomenon. By grouping together those users of social media who understand them, memes become interpretative communities or “memetic communities”. Such communities have their own rules and create new exclusive idioms. The article aims to show that the specific context of social networks makes the communicative aspect of memes – the information they try to convey – less important than the persuasive one.
