Financial controlling in the EU projects implemented in public universities

Summary/Abstract: Financial controlling is widely used in the implementation of projects co-financed by EU funds. First of all, it has to ensure the achievement of objectives of the project with full eligibility of costs. This is possible thanks to the financial controlling tools such as budgeting, control, monitoring and costs control. Early detection of arising deviations in the cost of the project makes the fast implementation of corrective actions possible. The aim of this paper is to present the financial controlling as an effective method of managing EU projects. Considerations concern public universities participating in the absorption of funds under the Operational Programmes in the financial perspective 2007-2014. They are based on the study of literature and case study.
