Summary/Abstract: The article shows participation of the European Union budgetary means in the total incomes of rural gminas of Masovian Voivodeship in the year 2011. There has been carried out a study aiming at providing information on the scale that the European Union means constitute in the budgets of gminas and the resulting benefits.To address that research problem there was made a comparison of all rural gminas of the Masovian Vo- ivodeship. Those gminas were also compared on the poviat level in order to specify the participation of means utilised by them in the total amount used by poviats, which were also divided into subregions to provide better illustration of the problem. Within the confines of the study there was also made a reference to the Masovian Voivodeship and the whole country. In Poland in 2011 year the total participation of the European Union means in total incomes of rural gminas amounts to 7%, whereas in the Masovian Voivodeship to 8%. Those gminas were classified into 5 subregions among which the subregion of Ostroleka and Siedlce is characterised by the biggest participation amounting to 11%. On the poviat level were distinguished two gminas of the Sokolowski Poviat where the average participation of the EU meanscomes to 20%. The highest result, which totalled 46%, was achieved by the Sabnie Gmina. As for the participation of the EU means of rural gminas in the total amountfor the whole poviat, the gminas of the Siedlecki Poviat managed to utilise those funds in 100%.
