Summary/Abstract: In this article author summarize conclusions about transition of countryside during the industrialization period. Ideas of those transition are based on archaeological researches at Wroclaw-Zakrzow 4 site, Lower Silesia and correlated with historical data known for this region. First paragraph of this article includes some theoretical basis. It is also emphasised that this type of archae- ological investigation are not convivial in Poland. Second part of this thesis presents the archaeological results: features and raw material. According to stratigraphy of the site but also dispersion and chronology of the artefacts combined with historical sources there were two main chronological horizons of the settlement distinguished. The first horizon is connected with property donated to Premonstrians – from 16th century to the year 1810. The second horizon is the period of industrialization of the area – from 19th to 20th century. Most of the artefacts, mainly pottery comes from the period of 17-18th century but there are a very few features from the occupation of the area. Otherwise, the phenomena of 19-20th century is registered mostly as the remains of constructions concentrated in western part of the site but not many artefacts were excavated. From that period porcelain and stoneware wares ware registered, a few metal tools and other objects. Presented sources confirms the information of historical background of this area. This results are attempt for further investigation of rural life and eco- nomical relation between Zakrzow and Wroclaw. Very important aspect of this economical connection is the industrialization process in Lower Silesia. Significant element of this changes is railway connection between this two type of settled areas – the city and the country-side with factory area. This article shows the transition of the village to semi agricultural and industrial area. It was achievable because all kinds of archaeological sources ware registered during the excavation also those from the modern period. Regrettably it is still very unusual situation in Poland and changing very slowly.
