Summary/Abstract: This article presents the concept of philosophical role in the theology developed by Catholic French theologian, Marie-Dominique Chenu OP in Une école de théologie: le Saulchoir. This publication was a part of intensive studies taken up in Franco language theology – since the nineteen thirties –studies on the nature of Theology as the Science, works of mediaeval authors (Eudes Rigaud, Alexander from Halles, St. Albert the Great, St. Bonaventura and others) at the head of St. Thomas d’Aquin.
