Summary/Abstract: The economical way of feeding should be the major element in the management of milk production costs; hence the great importance of analysis of direct costs. The study showed that the increase in milk yield was associated with a slight increase in direct costs at the significant increase in gross margin. Increasing milk production on farms specializing in milk production (type dairy cows) was associated with the relatively higher consumption of commercial concentrated feeding stuffs (mainly protein concentrates and complete feed) in comparison with farms with multi-direction production (type mixed) where the concentrated feeding stuffs came from own production. The higher size of production on farms specializing in milk production had a positive impact on economic performance, including higher direct profitability of the milk production.
