Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the studies of the impact of the minimum wage on employment, taking into account the conclusions of the theoretical and empirical studies. According to the liberal economists minimum wage pushes the real price of labor from the socalled equilibrium price, which is the intersection of the supply and demand curve. As a result, the employees lose their job who could continue it or find another one at a lower salary. An alternative to state regulation is the free market. In the light of recent research the minimum wage does not substantially effect employment. The neoclassical model of the labor market does not correctly reflect the reality.
