Summary/Abstract: The article presents and analyzes the state policies pertaining to rural space in Bulgaria in the 1930s and 1940s. The research focus is on a project bearing the ambitious label of “The Model Village”. The key objective of the program “The Model Village”emphasized the need of the village inhabitants (especially the young people) to adopt the modern hygienic habits, the rules of eating “healthily” and to recognize farm work as a professional activity.
