Summary/Abstract: Functional and spatial changes occurring in suburban areas, connected with improving standards of living, are not rely on efficient space management. This process took the status of spatial problem. An example of Kobierzyce commune was a basis for calculating spatial indicators characterizing suburban villages. For this purpose, the author used for instance Rusk’s building sprawl indicator, soil sealing l level with qualitative data of soil, the Galster rate of housing density and Jiang shape factor. The research has shown that regardless of the relatively low density area, villages located close to Wroclaw are characterized by the most irregular shape − Wysoka and Ślęza. It is one of evidence for the lack of implementation of the principles of sustainable development in the spatial structure.
