Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to verify the relationship between work motivation and organizational commitment. The conceptualization of work motivation has been made in accordance with the theory of self-determination by Deci & Ryan. Polish adaptation of the Canadian Work Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation Scale (WEIMS) constructed by Maxime Tremblay and colleagues was used. Organizational commitment was defined on the basis of three-dimensional model by Meyer &Allen and was operationalized by Organizational Commitment Scale by Banka et al. The results of analyzes confirm that the dimension of motivation, which is most strongly correlated with organizational commitment, is the integration (INTEG). Other mechanisms, such as introjections, identification, and intrinsic motivation are correlated moderately with the dimensions of commitment. It is continuance commitment which is the least correlated with the motivation. The next step was to study the relationship between organizational factors and organizational commitment. The strongest predictor is the seniority and slightly less the firm size.
