Summary/Abstract: The problem of the separation of nudity from sex derives from the absence of a cultural model of asexual nudity. Meanwhile, naturists have developed just such a model: for them, it is not nudity that determines the body's sexuality, but the circumstances, while naturist experiences are recreational rather than erotic. Naturist nudity is therefore constructed and practised so as to maintain the culturally dominant decency, i.e. sexual restraint and modesty. However, the extremely distinct naturist customs (i.e. social and public or semi-public nudity) result in presumptions in the textile majority's public discourse regarding their different decency, i.e. indecency. This article strives to reconstruct naturist customs from the perspective of deliberations over whether the decency of the predominant culture is breached in naturist situations. The issue is analysed using specific cases of transgression through the publicising of naturist nudity in Poland and Great Britain. In this paper, naturist nudity is investigated in relation to positive law and the norms of intuitive law constructed by naturists.
