Summary/Abstract: From this year, 8 May is celebrated in Poland as National Victory Day and marks the end of World War II. This article looks at the different approaches to the celebration of the end of World War II in Europe. The author discusses the timeline of two separate German capitulations (in Reims on 7 May and in Berlin on 8 May) and the ramifications of time zones question. Next, he presents when European nations commemorate the end of World War II (8 or 9 May) in light of the politics of memory.
