Summary/Abstract: Czech Associations in Slovakia and their Representation of Problems of Czech Associations. The Czech community living in Slovakia has got the status of ethnic minority or foreigner after the split of the Czechoslovakia in 1993. The Czechs' migration in Slovakia after 1945 was connected with the industrialization of the country. In this period - unlike the period between the world wars, when Czech people built in Slovakia the state administration and educational system and as professionals belonged to higher social strata - social distance between Czechs and Slovaks diminished. It also resulted in increasing number of Czecho-Slovak marriages. The foundation of Czech minority organization after the split of Czechoslovakia was difficult because in spite of the fact that Czechs are numerous in Slovakia, they are very dispersed. The main objectives of the Czech minority organization in Slovakia are 1. to lobby for double citizenship, 2. to obtain their own representatives in Parliament, 3. to have approach to Czech Republic' TV broadcasting and press, and 4. to use the Czech language as the official language in Slovakia.
