Summary/Abstract: Church elites and the approach of printing in Romanian Principalities (the second half of seventeenth–first half of the eighteenth century). The establishment of the first printing shops, through which was renewed the link with the art of printing in Iaşi and Bucharest in the second half of the seventeenth century, it is due to the efforts of Metropolitans Varlaam and Dosoftei. The seven hierarchs of the metropolitan churches in the Romanian Principalities, at the end of the seventeenth century and the beginning of the eighteenth century, ideated the project, which was supposed to involve printing in the effort of defending and strengthening the Orthodox Church position in Moldavia and Wallachia, published over 30 different types of church books.
