New Considerations on the Functioning of the Archonate of Lykostomion in the 9th Century

Summary/Abstract: Without any doubts the second half of the 9th century consecrates a Byzantine possession at Danube’s mouths. A serious of information from literarily, numismatic and sigillographic sources are clearly converging to the confirmation of the functioning of one Byzantine military-administrative unit, of a theme-archonate in the North of the Danubian-Pontic space.
