Summary/Abstract: The public procurement is a key instrument for stimulating innovation economy. Innovations can be implemented by using the public procurement system through appropriate tendering procedure of public procurement, pre-commercial procurement and public-private partnerships and concessions. The purpose of the publication is to present the role of public- private partnerships in the financing of innovation by public procurement system. The experience of Great Britain and the use of PPPs in the United States, and the importance of the financial model for the public-private partnership project are discussed. In the last part the financing example of innovation in the context of public-private partnership in Poland is presented. The analysis is based on secondary data, legislation and thematic studies connecting European, American, and Polish solutions.
