Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to define criteria of the selection of appropriate rulings while limiting parental authority. A. Kiliańska indicates that in the case of restrictions of parental authority there is no room for any predefined rules mandating the use of appropriate forms of restriction and each case should be considered individually. It seems, however, that the Guardianship Court while selecting and issuing appropriate orders should at least follow some general criteria It is therefore proposed that these criteria should include: the situation connected with the potential threat to child’s welfare, family autonomy, the presumption of good will of the parents, the public interest. The above criteria catalogue may at this point be treated as open. One can in fact assume that in the course of further considerations some other criterion may arise. It is important noting that the process of selection of proper rulings conducted by the Guardianship Court of should be a closed on , it should revolve around the child’s welfare.
