The Cultural Dimension Of The Life And Mission Of Saint Bruno. Literature And Monuments

Summary/Abstract: The article depicts the review of sources connected with Bruno of Querfurt (974-1009), and some cultural landscape of the Central Europe on the turn of X and XI century. The author analyzes such records of St. Bruno’s activity as: (1) the first record from 1009 which includes the information about the martyrdom of St. Bruno; (2) the second record from 1014 from the Thietmar Chronicle; (3) the third record from 1020 from the Chronicle of Tegernsee Abbey (or the Imperial Abbey of Tegernsee), based on Wibert’s account of the death of St. Bruno; (4) the fourth record of Petrus Damiani from 1040 which contains the story about the martyrdom of St. Bruno.
