Summary/Abstract: In a postmodern chaos where most important values are democracy and tolerance, man needs to return to universal, invariable and unchangeable values more than ever before. There is a need for a common ground where followers of different religions and phi-losophical currents could meet together. Natural law is the common foundation on which the life of individuals and national and international communities can be built. But considering the number of people who still question the existence of this law, there is a need for observing main reasons and consequences of its rejection. The treatment of natural law as nothing but a religious notion is a serious misunderstanding. There-fore, the authoress analyzes arguments for its existence not only in theological, but also in philosophical and psychological context. Philosophy, especially metaphysics, refers to ontological cognition. It examines the nature of man, and deduces principles of natu-ral law from it. Theology points to God as the source of eternal law, which is reflected in man as natural law. Psychology starts to discover natural law by common-sense, pre-philosophical practical cognition which allows to discover the existence of certain basic truths which have been generally accepted by different cultures for many years. The authoress concludes that it does not seem reasonable to question the existence of natural law, especially now when mankind longs for unity and stable bases of its exis-tence as never before.
