Summary/Abstract: The article presents the importance of employee satisfaction as a key factor determining organisational development and business performance improvement against a background of positive management theory. It identifies the main factors, treated as the components of Positive Organisational Potential (POP), influencing job satisfaction in companies operating in Poland as well as indicates these ones which are of key importance when it comes to employee satisfaction improvement. The research results confirmed that business performance is influenced by employee satisfaction. They also made it possible to indicate the critical employee satisfaction improvement factors including high ethical standards in an everyday functioning of an enterprise, a positive organisational culture based on trust, honesty and fairness as well as an effective intra-organisational communication supported by the development of managers’ emotional competences.
