Summary/Abstract: In recent years it is possible to observe the revolutionary changes on global energy markets like the revolution of shale gas, diffusion of LNG, retreat from nuclear which might have far-reaching consequences for geopolitical balance. This article intends to identify and explain possible geopolitical implications of the new developments on global energy markets for Qatar and the effect on its foreign policy. The author examines the international activity of Qatar and other states involved in the Gulf Region with special focus on the process of power shifts among them, their possible alliances and emerging interdependencies. The findings consist of a set of indications regarding direction and strength of geopolitical implications for Qatar (strong, moderate, negative and positive), energy policy strategic objectives (enhancement of energy security, maintaining its current position on the energy market or empowering of the state based on controlling supplies or transit of energy resources) and foreign policy strategy (expansive or conservative and offensive or defensive).
