Summary/Abstract: The author of the article presents one of the main subjects of pneumatological ecclesiology: pneumatological foundations of the Church's unity in diversity. The Holy Spirit is shown here not only as the creator of unity, but also as the subject of the Church' communion. This “top-down” look at the origin of the Church and its structure allows rejecting all unjustified juxtaposition of the charismatic element and the institutional one. Unity in the Church, whose source is the Holy Spirit, for sinful members of the Church is not only a fact, but also a task. The author of the article emphasizes that there is a threat of mistaking conclusions of the sociological nature for ones of the theological nature.
