Summary/Abstract: The study focused on the recognition of tactile figures by blind and sighted individuals. The findings allow the conclusion that, while visualizing shapes explored by touch, sighted individuals retain the size of the objects in their working memory and while comparing figures of various sizes they perform the process of mental scaling. By contrast, the size of objects does not seem to be of significance in mental representations created by blind individuals.
