Summary/Abstract: William Faulkner's masterpiece, The Sound and the Fury follows the Compson family as they react and live with daughter Caddy's decision to become sexually active. Seen only through the eyes of her brothers and her community, Caddy is given no voice in the narrative, effectively silencing her point of view. The result is a narrative imbalance that privileges other people's beliefs while undermining Caddy as a subject in her own story.
