Clusters and smart specializations

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to establish whether the “smart specializations” concept could be efficiently utilized in actions towards the development of Polish regions. In order to attain this goal, a short characteristic of the whole idea of smart specializations has been provided. The possibilities of its practical implementation have been described in the context of introducing the so-called “Cluster Development Policy” in the previous programming period. The interdependences between the two concepts have also been indicated.
