Summary/Abstract: This paper is focused on the liaison between two eminent figures of the 17th and early 18th centuries: the great German philosopher Leibniz and the prominent figure of the Romanian intellectual scenery, Dimitrie Cantemir. The present attempt is set mainly on building a possible relationship between their respective political patterns. We will depict some of the Leibnizian political initiatives, as well as the deeper meaning behind Cantemir’s political activity. Could the two of them actually meet on the common ground of rational decision governing political enterprise?
