Digital Reconstruction of the Facade Decoration of the St. Demetrius of Thessaloniki Church in Veliko Tarnovo

Summary/Abstract: The paper includes research coupled with a digital reconstruction of the facade decoration of the St. Demetrius of Thessaloniki Church, Veliko Tarnovo. This royal church is one of the most accomplished examples of the picturesque style in architecture. Picturesque murals have been included in the rich facade decoration – this was discovered during the architecture excavations and afterwards the contextures were restored. Approaches for reconstruction of the facade frescoes are also offered. The facade walls of the church have obtained a complete appearance after the digital reconstruction with modern means.
