Summary/Abstract: The archives of the State Security and Intelligence Services of the Bulgarian People's Army cause discussion and interest in society. In the years after 1989 there is a constant interest in the mysteries that they hold. In this text I will focus on this as well as the fate of the physical carriers of the information. I will pay attention to the institutions responsible for their storage and use, their presentation to the public, and the consequences of that. Not least of course want to put the wishes and needs for access to these documents to researchers. Through them certain things in history can be rewritten, others explained. Says Hristo Hristov: "The main reason for the lack of a systematic approach to research activities of the State Security is the serious problem of access to the archives of the State Security during the transition." Attention is drawn to the processes of formation of the archive. The main part is the action on the operating statement. Archives of the Secret Service was formed from the operational and non-operational activities of the Directorate of State Security Ministry of the Interior and its regional offices and Intelligence Agency to the General Staff of the National Army. The article traced the fate of the archives after 1989, initially in society fluctuate and rumors of destruction. Subsequently formed committees and working groups to raise the curtain from the recent past. The first attempts for this are unprofessional and therefore unsuccessful. This leads to 2006, when in Bulgaria was adopted Law on disclosing and announcing affiliation of Bulgarian citizens to the state security and intelligence services of the Bulgarian People's Army. It was the beginning of the creation of files in our country. Appointed by the National Assembly the formed newly Commission attaches to the collection of the entire archive array legacy of State Security in one place. Yet these valuable documents will reveal its potential and will become the fruit of research and journalistic investigations. Future holds two main routes to the documents of the former State Security - building of Institute of National Remembrance, or passing as an independent department of the State Agency "Archives".
