Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is the explanation of internal environmental audits issues. It is to verify the extent of the internal audits use for continuous improvement by 43 enterprises having a functioning certified organizational eco-innovation system (based on the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard). The results of qualitative studies have shown that in the part of the companies (with certified organizational eco-innovation system) internal audits are insufficiently used to ensure continuous improvement. Despite the training of both managers and employees, most of them have problems with the correct acquisition and use of information obtained from internal audits. The lack of understanding of internal audits concept and its role in the process of continuous improvement is visible.
