The influence of Family Environment on Hazardous Behaviour of Children and Youth

Summary/Abstract: Family is the most natural environment for self-realization and development as a person. On the other hand, the dysfunctional, or even the pathological family environment, may constitute the space, which in the greatest degree, hinders young people from shaping the mature attitude towards life. There exists a close relation between the unfavourable family context and wrong attitude of children and adolescents to all kinds of risky behaviours. For this reason, while taking into consideration the set of changes and dangers, which are related to the functioning of modern family (to which alludes also the author of the following article), there has been made an attempt to assess their influence on the shape of life of the younger generation. The research conducted is based on the analysis of the risk category as well as the analysis of individual disturbances in functioning of family environment and their consequences. The article, at the same time, constitutes an attempt to indicate the basic principles of prophylaxis in the context of modern childhood and points the ways of equalizing lacks and failures appearing as a result of pathological phenomena in children and adolescents lives.
