Summary/Abstract: In the time of political transformation Poland cooperated with international economic organizations, such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organization. The main goals of this collaboration were attracting foreign capital, generating growth of international trade and strengthening of international credibility. The financial assistance from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund is conditional. This means that these institutions have a real influence on the states’ internal affairs and policies. This includes jurisprudence, since the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund contributed for example to the adoption by Poland of legal acts on privatization and commercialization of state-owned enterprises and bank law. The World Trade Organization also requires its members to adopt several trade agreements, which impact municipal law. For example Poland adopted customs law and intellectual property law. International economic organizations’ interference with beneficiaries’ internal affairs not always brings positive outcomes. In case of Poland it includes among other such problems as corruption and taking over Polish property by foreign capital. The problem of legal accountability of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organization remains unsolved even nowadays. It seems that they cannot be held accountable despite their contribution to the harm done.
