Summary/Abstract: This paper concerns the stimulation of companies' innovation in terms of usage of external knowledge taken, for example, from universities. The aim of this study is to determine the real value of innovation in the knowledge transfer process in the science-business relations. The author points out that for the development of the company, it is important to not only to have access to the knowledge or feeling of being an innovative company, but a synergistic ability to apply internal and external knowledge in order to create new solutions and innovations that will be profitable for the company. The exchange of knowledge between universities and companies in practice runs two-way, on the feedback basis both giving companies the knowledge that comes from academic centers and creating the opportunity to the universities for the acquisition of applicable knowledge that comes from business practice at the same time, which in turn positively affects both the quality and the utilitarian value of scientific research.
