BURNOUT AND TEACHER'S PROFESSION

Summary/Abstract: A theoretical review on the typical for phenomenon "burnout" is made. It reveals that this syndrome is a negative response to stressful experiences that one gets at work. The analysis of burnout makes possible the revealing of its three component structure: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and low self-esteem. Specific manifestations of burnout in teacher s profession in USA, West European countries and Bulgaria are shown. The results of empirical studies in this field made in some Arab countries — Kuwait, Jordania etc. are also analyzed cross-cultural. Similarities and differences among the countries under eshmahan are outlined. The necessity of further research iu the field of Arab countries is confirmed in order to achieve a deeper understanding of burnout phenomenon among teachers.
