Summary/Abstract: In the first part, the article deals with the history of musical boxes, underlining its most important moments. In the second part, the author refers to the mechanisms that constitute such a box and their functionality, exemplified on a chart. Finally, he reaches the issues of transportation, restoration and conservation of musical boxes.
