Summary/Abstract: The campaign from 1711, of the Russian armies, represents an important moment of the Russian-Turk conflict for supremacy over the North-Eastern part of Europe. In spite of a fair number of studies (both articles and books) dedicated to this issue, there still remain three aspects to clarify: the crossing of the Danube by the Ottoman armies, the strategic plans and the movement of the two armies towards the river line and the decision of the Cantacuzino boyars of Wallachia to join the Russian-Moldavian alliance. The analysis of these three aspects, based on a new interpretation of the documents, justifies or incriminates the actions carried out at the beginning of the XVIIIth century in a part of Europe shaken by wars, mined by al sorts of vanities, whose history is difficult to interpret due to its disparate sequences and events.
