Summary/Abstract: We analyze below the mind of the essayist and writer Abdelwahab Meddeb about Islam, as it unfolds in his works Pari de civilisation and Phantasia. The author expresses his desire for a religion and an open and modern civilization and revisits certain aspects of the Qur'an emphasizing its poetic significance. We study the connections between these two books with texts from other French or Francophone thinkers (André Breton, Abdennour Bidar, etc.), but also the differences between them and the originality of Meddeb.
