Summary/Abstract: It is interesting to follow the history of the paper theatre and its forms of manifestation on different geographical coordinates, according to the features of each country. The beginnings of the paper theatre are to be found in 1808 in London, when John Kilby Green, a young printing house apprentice was asked by William West, a trinkets seller from Exeter Street, to print the first set of theatrical prints for young people. These were similar to the comic lottery prints of the time, but were the first to have a theatrical theme. West explained his decision: „The lottery things was so bad, and sold so well, that the idea struck me that something theatrical would sell”.
