Summary/Abstract: The aim of the analysis is to identify the impact of individual prices of energy sources on electricity prices and to examine whether this impact is connected with using different energy sources in electricity production. The study was conducted with the use of Granger causality on the monthly data from the period July 2005 – June 2012 applying Toda- Yamamoto approach. The analysis indicated that the prices of energy influence electricity prices on the markets analysed, except Italian and Swedish markets. The analysis revealed that the impact of prices of energy on electricity prices depends on energy sources used in electricity production.
