Summary/Abstract: SIGMUND FREUD; Moses und Monotheism, Jüdische Verlagsanstalt Berlin, Berlin 2000.“At the beginning of the 20th century Ernst Sellin, the famous scholar of the Old Testament, ascertained that the most important question of Jewish religious philosophy is “Who was Moses?” This question implies a suspicious interpretation of the biblical tradition which was common in historical and archeological research in the 19th century and which continued into the modern religious discourse about Moses in the 20th century. In his work “Moses and Monotheism”, Sigmund Freud answers Ernst Sellin’s question with a new, unconventional narrative which takes its poetic suggestive strength from its historical plausibility and from its psychoanalytical explosive force.”[…]
