Summary/Abstract: This article is an inquiry into the Kurdish question from the perspective of the recent literature on ethno-nationalism. The topic is of great relevance both for the current international politics, via its location in the conflictual area bordering the Middle East and also for the academic investigation, which has largely ignored the question of Kurds from various research angles. Due to the very same fact, observed by the author, of the unexplored character of the problem from various academic fields, the present study provides a substantive overview of the modern and contemporay history of the Kurdish population and of its (conflictual) interactions with the Turkish authorities. This serves as a backdrop for a critical analysis of the possible ways in which, bearing in mind concepts of nationalism theories, one could define Kurds as a nation. The underlying rationale is to shed light over the complexity of solving, on a theoretical, normative (international law) and political level one of the very important, though little explored, conflicts of the international world.
