Summary/Abstract: The article looks at the question of a social phenomenon known as working poor, i.e. a category of people who remain below poverty line despite income earned from work. In the first section the issues related to definitions, measurement and origins of this phenomenon are covered. Next, the author explores the situation in the Polish labour market in the context of in‑work poverty and presents international comparisons. In conclusion, the relation between working poverty and flexibility of labor market is discussed.
