Summary/Abstract: The author points out the situation of the Serbian language in the contemporary conditions of life in Kosmet (Serbia) and suggests some of the tasks for the linguistic science, the realization of which would help preserve the value of Kosovo and Metohija vernacular for the history of the Serbian language in general.
