Summary/Abstract: The cinema, as a media, includes a technology platform in constant evolution. The question is what is the driving force of this trend and if there is any direction. A theory of thermodynamics physics gives us a new angle on this question: extrapolating it to the cinema, we can forward the hypothesis that it is not the quality (variable cultural criterion) that determines the evolution of cinema, but its ability to reduce the entropy of its environment.
