Summary/Abstract: The article questions - as a premise - the status of Castaneda's experiences, expressed in his books, as facing the system of knowledge and beliefs of a (rather) sceptical 21st century reader. The study brings to the fore a few improbable situations narrated in the series of Castaneda's books. This analysis is then completed by some profiles of incredulous readers more or less flexibile in accepting Castaneda's ideas.
