Summary/Abstract: "City of Apes"is the name the poet Nicolae Balota gives the city of Bucharest of the years 1954-1955 in his recently published diary in the volume Caietul Albastru (The Blue Notebook) .In this diary Balota draws some memorable portraits and shows prefectly credible images of his contemporaries of the 50ies both famous and obscure.
