Summary/Abstract: Beyond Time and Space. The Story of the Mysterious Spiritual Author Athanasios Abū Ghālib. The present contribution offers a short introduction to the time, context and writings of a spiritual author of the XIIth century, by the name of Athanasios Abū Ghālib. A contemporary of Patriarch Michael the Great , whose chronicle is our first-hand source of information about him, who describes him with reverence as a venerable monk and later consecrates him bishop, Abū Ghālib remains a valuable spiritual author, still to be discovered and assessed in the important and rich contribution he brought to the Syriac literature of the XIIth century.
